Our Goal: Haynsworth's K-2 Program is designed to help guide each child through developing milestones needed to master the basic building blocks of learning. We work on social, emotional, and academic growth and development. Our warm, family-oriented environment is conducive to the learning experience.
Benchmarks for Readiness:
Our Learning Approach
Young children learn through hands on
experiences with various types of stimuli. They interact in various
activities such as art, music, manipulatives, centers, and outdoor play.
Haynsworth fosters curious minds by allowing our students to
investigate and interact at their own speed and level of development.
The Haynsworth Experience
Language Art and
Pre-Reading Development: The K-2 curriculum is theme based. Each week a
new letter and theme is introduced to the students as well as a number,
color, and shape. The children learn through various approaches such
as centers, and hands on exploration.
Pre-Math Development: The K-2 Pre-Math program is designed to teach the basic fundamentals which consists of calendar time and manipulatives. Calendar time introduces children to number knowledge. The children also learn to count and recognize numbers 1-10.
Science: The children have opportunities for hands-on experiences with activities related to weather, seasons, plants, the five senses, animals, and much more.
In Addition: We maintain an 8:1 student to teacher ratio and a Late Stay Program for before and after school. The K-2 class hours are 8:30am - 12:00 pm. Late Stay is available from noon to 5:45 pm.
